In the case of the cold La Niña event-- the coastal waters off British Columbia tend to be cool. In a La Niña winter, the Canadian air temperature (especially west of Quebec) tends to be below normal, while the precipitation in southern Canada tends to be above normal. Southern British Columbia tends to receive more snow.

Arrived in Bariloche... kinda rainy and wet, which means its dummping in the Mountains. We hopped into a van and drove to San Martin de Los Andes, missing the only gas station on the way. We were pretty close to spending the night along side the highway, but karma saved us and we just made, with probably  1/2 liter to spare!

The PFA; Policia Federal Argentina,  pulled us over and refused let our van up the mountain road since we didn't have and chains, so we hiked about 1 km, until we hitched a ride in the back of a pick up truck! Anything for pow on a bluebird day
